Warwick, RI neighborhood guide

Cowesett Homes for Sale

Hillside estate neighborhood above Greenwich Bay

Cowesett is where many Warwick buyers look when they want more house, more land and a quieter street. It climbs the hill above Greenwich Bay between Route 117 to the north, East Greenwich to the south, Post Road to the east and Route 2 to the west. The name is usually translated from Narragansett as "small pine place."

Homes in Cowesett

Expect Colonials, contemporaries and some of the city's larger homes, many on wooded lots with stone walls. In the late 1800s wealthy Rhode Island families built country villas on this hillside, and remnants of those estates still show up along Post and Cowesett Roads. Prices here typically run well above the Warwick median, so we price every Cowesett listing off true neighborhood comparables, not citywide averages.

Living in Cowesett

Residents are close to Main Street in East Greenwich for restaurants while paying Warwick's property tax rate, which is a common reason buyers choose Cowesett. Cedar Hill Elementary is in the neighborhood, and Toll Gate is the area's public high school.
