Warwick, RI neighborhood guide
Buttonwoods Homes for Sale
Former 1870s summer colony on Greenwich Bay
Buttonwoods has some of the most character of any Warwick neighborhood. It began in 1871 as a Baptist summer colony founded by the Rev. Moses Bixby of Providence, who modeled it on the Methodist campground at Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard.
Homes in Buttonwoods
The heart of the neighborhood is the Buttonwoods Beach Historic District, bounded by Brush Neck Cove, Greenwich Bay and Cooper and Promenade Avenues, where late-Victorian cottages still line the streets. Around it are year-round conversions and mid-century homes. With historic and coastal properties, we pay close attention to condition, flood zone and what the true comparables are.
Living in Buttonwoods
Buttonwoods sits between Apponaug and Oakland Beach on the Nausauket neck. The Budlong and Greene farmhouses here are among the oldest homes standing in Warwick, and Warwick City Park is nearby for walking trails and playing fields.
